Majesty: A Musical Celebration
Earlier this year, the world watched as Britain held its first coronation of a monarch in more than 70 years. It was a visual spectacle, rich in history and symbolism, but for many, it was the event's music that made it a day to remember.
This summer, Coro is proud to present an exciting programme that explores and celebrates Britain's rich and majestic choral heritage. From the soaring Renaissance polyphony of Weelkes (O Lord, Arise) and Byrd (O Lord, Make Thy Servant Elizabeth), to Handel's immortal coronation anthems (Zadok the Priest, The King Shall Rejoice), and on to modern classics by Parry (At the round earth's imagined corners) and Vaughan Williams (Lord, Thou hast been our refuge), this programme is not to be missed.
Join us as we return to the beautiful surroundings of St George's Bloomsbury in the heart of central London, and unwind after work with an evening of true choral masterpieces.
Bach: Mass in B Minor
Following the cancellation of our special 20th-anniversary concert due to the pandemic in March 2020, we are delighted to revive this concert, presenting Bach's immortal Mass in B Minor in the stunning settings of the St Pancras New Church in London.
Completed in 1749, just a year before Bach's death, the Mass in B Minor represents the work of more than two decades of his life and is widely regarded as one of the supreme achievements of both the classical and choral music worlds. We are delighted to present the work in all its glorious entirety, complete with period orchestra and joined by several stellar soloists.
